Thank you to everyone who joined us for last week’s webinar, Leading Through Uncertainty. The conversation was powerful, timely, and based on your messages deeply needed.
If you missed it (or want to revisit the highlights), we’ve got you covered. Below is a recap of the key insights, frameworks, and questions we explored together.
Because leadership in uncertain times isn’t just about survival. It’s about making wise decisions and taking actions based on our values.
Understanding the Pressures: The Tension Triangle
We opened by naming what so many of you are navigating right now:
Legal compliance and policy shifts
Internal pressures from staff
External scrutiny from clients, customers, or the public
This is what I call the Tension Triangle. Leaders are being pulled in multiple directions, and each point brings its own risks and responsibilities. Understanding where the pressure comes from is the first step to responding wisely.
Our WAVE™ Framework: A Tool for Wise Leadership
When the pressure’s on, emotional intelligence becomes a leadership superpower. That’s where the WAVE™ Framework comes in:
Wisdom: Slow down and reflect to consider what you might be avoiding. Wise leaders make space for discomfort because that’s often where the truth is.
Anchor: Get grounded. Find what steadies you, whether it’s a breath, a walk, or a moment of quiet. Leaders who regulate their emotions model steadiness and reduce team anxiety.
Vision: Look ahead. What patterns are emerging? What past lessons can guide your next move?
Engagement: Say the thing. Have the conversation. Name the tension. Avoidance doesn’t build trust, engagement does.
Let Your Values Lead You
Your values aren’t just words on a wall. They’re your North Star, especially when the path ahead feels murky. We talked about how values can guide difficult decisions, help you respond with integrity, and foster trust inside and outside your organization.
So, dust off that values statement. It’s time to put it to work.
A Moment to Breathe
We closed with a simple practice I often return to:
Uncross your body. Take a deep breath. Be still.
Leadership starts with how you show up and make space for wisdom to emerge.
