The death of the son of NFL star Adrian Peterson reminds us that children are the silent victims of domestic violence. They don’t have adult voices but many times they have to deal with adult problems. If you have or know a child in the midst of a violent relationship consider these tools and resources to offer them support:
Children will give you a lot of information if you give them the tools and space to do so. Listen to their words and watch their actions. If you are concerned that there is a problem ask them What happened? How did you feel? And what happened next? If you are willing to listen, children will surprise you with what they’re willing to share.
