I know many of you are surprised just how fast the year is going. We are officially halfway through the year where many people start to reflect on how their year is going. This is also a great time to take a look at our perspective and what we can do to finish the second part of our year more enjoyable.
A few years ago, I wrote a blog about what shifting perspectives can do for you. “Our perceptions significantly influence our behaviors. How we see the world, people, and relationships dictates how we interact with them.”
When a person steals the parking spot you were waiting on, it is easy to get upset. We can get mad and let it affect our whole day. But what if we shifted our perspective? Instead of getting furious in the first second of this taking place, we shift our perspective and realize that they probably didn’t even see you waiting. Don’t let situations like that rob your joy. It’s not worth it.
As you learn to shift your perspective, you will realize just how much time and emotions are wasted on things that don’t matter in the big picture. Changing your perspective is a small step towards choosing what we want to focus our attention on.
I challenge you to put this into practice in your daily life and begin to be more conscious of your perspective. What kind of shifted perspective do you need to make to have a more enjoyable life?
