Jamar T. Izzard is a native of North Philadelphia, and currently a graduate student at Saint Joseph’s University, studying Clinical Mental Health Counseling. He holds a bachelor’s degree in general studies with concentrations in both Psychology and Communications.

Jamar has dedicated his life and career to being an advocate for marginalized and underserved communities. He has been fortunate to have had spearheaded and partnered on a variety of successful City and State-wide initiatives that includes Wellness, Anti-Violence Campaigns, Education, and Social Justice Reform. It is because of his efforts, Jamar was appointed and served as the co-chair for the Philadelphia Mayor’s Commission on African-American Males. In addition, he is also a recipient of The President’s Volunteer Service Award from the Obama administration, in conjunction with the BMe Community Organization.

Jamar’s area of interest includes trauma, depression, addiction, and family & marriage counseling. He finds value in the integrative approach, drawing from Cognitive-Behavior Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Holistic/Client Centered therapy.

Here is one of many quotes from Booker T. Washington that reflects Jamar’s philosophy. “Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome.”
